Overview
Job Title: Security Installation Engineer
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress their career in an expanding and technically demanding company. Applicants should live within 25–30 miles of Stevenage. Areas we cover: Herts, Beds, Cambs, Bucks, Northants, Oxon, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, London.
Responsibilities
* Install electronic security systems to a surveyor's specification or marked-up drawings.
* Commission systems and complete all appropriate paperwork in accordance with the relevant British Standards and NSI requirements.
* Where required, service electronic security systems at our customers' premises.
* Operate with the types of equipment listed below, being familiar with intruder, access control, door entry and CCTV systems.
Equipment and Systems
* Intruder: Eaton range, Pyronix and Honeywell
* Access Control: ACT, Paxton
* Door Entry: BPT, Fermax
* CCTV: HikVision, Pelco, DM, Adpro, Optex
Hours of Work
40 hours per week, starting at 08:30 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch (12:00–14:00). The candidate is expected to arrive on site at 08:30 and should not leave before 17:00 unless other arrangements are made.
Security Overtime Rates
The candidate may be required to work additional hours to meet business needs. Overtime is paid at:
* Monday – Friday: basic rate x 1.33
* Saturday: basic rate x 1.5
* Sunday: basic rate x 2
The overtime, travel and night working rates may be capped from time to time depending on contract specifics; the candidate will be informed prior to commencement if the rate will be capped. The basic rate (1) and time-and-a-third (1.33) will remain unchanged. This capped rate also applies to the call-out rota as stipulated prior to commencing the matter.
Security Travelling Time Rates
Travelling time from home to site (in the mornings) and from site to home (in the evenings) is paid at 1.33 only if travelling time is over and above the normal eight-hour day. Example: leave home at 06:00 and arrive on site at 08:30 yields 2.5 hours overtime at 1.33; leave site at 17:30 and arrive home at 20:00 yields 2.5 hours overtime at 1.33. Travel time from home to the office in the mornings or from the office to home in the evenings is not paid as overtime.
Security Duty Roster
It is customary in the industry for a Duty Engineer roster to operate to provide 24/7 emergency call-out capability (365 days a year). The candidate will be expected to be included on the Duty Engineers' Roster for emergency call-outs. Separate rates apply for bank and public holidays, plus premium rates during specified time bands.
* Weekdays:
* 06:01–08:30 basic rate x 1.75
* 17:00–24:00 basic rate x 1.75
* 00:01–06:00 basic rate x 2.50
* Weekends: Saturday 00:01 – Monday 06:00 basic rate x 2.50
* Bank and Public Holidays basic rate x 2.50
Annual Holidays
The annual holiday entitlement for a full holiday year is 23 days plus Bank Holidays. The candidate will be paid at an enhanced rate of pay during periods of annual holiday (amount to be confirmed: £.....T.B.C.) and this will be reviewed periodically.
Security Screening
We carry out security screening under BS: 7858, which requires backdating employment history five years (or to age 16 if more recent). We also request an Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS, a Hertfordshire Police Check, and a consumer information search with a credit reference agency.
Company PPE, Uniform, Equipment, Vehicle
We provide PPE, a company uniform, a hands-free company mobile phone, and if applicable a laptop. Vehicles are provided with air-conditioning where possible and practical. Trackers are fitted to our vehicles.
