We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a School Caretaker / Site Assistant to support out‑of‑hours site operations and community lettings. This hands‑on, customer‑focused role supports facilities, site operations and community lettings within a school environment.
Salary: £13 per Hour + Benefits
Location: Croydon, South London
Job Type: Casual Contract
Working Hours: Evenings, weekends and school holidays (as required)
Duties
* Open and Secure Premises: Ensure safe access before bookings and secure closure after use.
* Prepare Facilities: Set up rooms and equipment to meet booking requirements.
* Maintain Cleanliness Standards: Ensure all areas are tidy, presentable and ready for use.
* Monitor Site Activity: Oversee lettings and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
* Provide Customer Support: Respond to queries and resolve issues promptly.
* Liaise with Contractors: Coordinate with cleaning staff and external providers as required.
* Inspect Facilities: Check condition of areas post‑use and address any concerns.
* Handle Basic Maintenance: Maintain equipment and report faults where necessary.
* Follow Health and Safety Procedures: Ensure awareness of fire exits, policies and compliance.
* Support Community Use: Facilitate a positive experience for all site users.
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience in a customer‑focused environment.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
* Competent using Microsoft Office and Windows‑based systems.
* An understanding of health, safety and security within a school or similar setting.
* Ability to work independently and resolve problems effectively.
* A practical understanding of facilities or premises maintenance.
* Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and holidays.
* Ability to build positive working relationships with stakeholders.
* Willingness to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
