Base pay range

Head of Capital and Investments
£90,000 to £100,000 plus great benefits, including up to 10% employer pension contribution, private healthcare, and £6,000 car allowance (Work Level 4)
Manchester City Centre (Hybrid)

Were looking for a Head of Capital and Investments to lead our Capital & Investments (C&I) team in Manchester. In this role, youll engage with colleagues across Co-op and make sure that were investing wisely and understanding how our spending performs. Its really important that we put effective long-term investment plans in place, and youll play a key role in influencing these.

As our Head of Capital and Investments, you will take the lead in shaping, evaluating and managing the Co-ops investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and delivering sustainable growth with long term value. You will act as a key business partner to the Executive and senior leadership team as well as across our finance leadership community. What youll do

* Lead the end to end investment governance; from business case development through to post-investment review
* Provide key expertise and guidance across Co-op to ensure robust and consistent business case modelling, including training across finance and business
* Drive strategic capital planning and reporting across Co-op, including rolling forecasts, budgets, and strategic longer-term planning
* Lead decision-making forums with our executives across portfolio investment to help drive solid investment choices that align with our strategy
* Identify and explore opportunities to improve our investment and post-investment appraisal process
* Partner executive and senior leaders through end to end investment cycle
* Work with strategy, deployment and business teams to help prioritise projects and spending in line with our strategy and growth plans
* Lead our high performing C&I team, supporting colleagues career development
* Provide support for ad-hoc and project-related requests from our Board, CFO, and CEO

This role would suit people who have

* Proven experience in a senior finance role, with experience in influencing and challenging people, of all levels of seniority, inclusively
* Expertise in evaluating complex investment opportunities, business partnering and a solid understanding of business case methodology and investment appraisal techniques
* Experience developing colleagues and supporting them in their career development
* Experience leading a multi-functional group of colleagues to drive planning and investment decision-making improvements
* Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking and communication skills
* The ability to proactively identify and explore continuous improvement opportunities
* Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with the ability to connect with people at all levels of seniority
