Advanced Specialist Pharmacist - Clinical Lead for Silverwood Hospital

We are looking for an experienced clinical pharmacist with expertise in mental health to lead specialist pharmacy services at Silverwood Hospital, St. Peter’s Hospital. The role requires working closely with the Clinical Pharmacy Team and other multidisciplinary staff to optimise medication therapy for our patients. Some travel between sites may be required.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver excellent clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards.
- Lead specialist mental‑health pharmacy services and coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams.
- Prepare pharmaceutical care plans and conduct clinical reviews of prescriptions, including managing complex cases.
- Engage patients in medication decisions to support adherence and improve outcomes.
- Provide expert pharmaceutical advice and respond to enquiries from consultants, medical staff, non‑medical prescribers, nurses and other MDT members.
- Develop bespoke local guidelines and protocols to support clinicians and nursing staff.
- Ensure proper governance arrangements for medicine management, including monitoring prescribing and medicine use.
Qualifications and registration
- Master’s or equivalent degree in Pharmacy.
- Postgraduate Certificate in General Pharmacy or Psychiatric Pharmacy (or equivalent).
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Good Clinical Practice certificate.
- Post‑graduate Diploma in Clinical or Psychiatric Pharmacy.
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
- Member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy.
- Good Manufacturing Practice certificate.
Experience and skills
- Post‑registration experience in mental health and/or general hospital pharmacy.
- Knowledge and understanding of evidence‑based healthcare.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to achieve outcomes through teamwork and initiative.
- Experience supervising, mentoring and delivering training activities to staff.
- Experience leading clinical audits.
- Experience in the pharmacist aspects of clinical trials, including Good Clinical Practice.
- Proven skills in information retrieval.
- Demonstrated ability to work with other professional team members in secondary care.
Salary
£59,798 to £67,020 per year (incl. 5% Fringe benefits). Pro‑rata pay is available.
