We’re looking for a School Caretaker who will work closely with our Headteacher and School Business Manager to keep our school safe, clean, welcoming and functioning beautifully — for pupils, staff, governors and visitors alike.

🕒 Your Working Week
21 hours per week
Monday to Friday
52‑week contract (with some tasks during school holidays)
Split shifts: a little in the morning, a little in the afternoon
Some flexibility needed (e.g., contractors, emergencies, parents’ evenings)
Salary is between 25,000 and 28,000 pro rata basis🔧 We Are Looking For Someone Who… Has great practical skills
Can carry out minor repairs and maintenance to a high standard
Confident with basic plumbing, joinery, small fixes and general DIYKeeps everyone safe
Understands Health & Safety procedures
Has knowledge of Health and Safety at Work and COSHH
Carries out checks to keep pupils, staff and visitors safeSupports the whole school environment
Helps with access and security
Ensures housekeeping, repairs and maintenance are completed
Looks after buildings, contents and health & safety tasks
Works proactively and independently when neededIs organised and proactive
Can plan and prioritise tasks effectively
Spots issues before they become problemsIs great with people
Communicates kindly and positively with staff, pupils, parents and visitors
Contributes to the caring, nurturing ethos of our schoolHas leadership awareness
Has experience supervising staff
Can confidently monitor the quality of work from external contractorsIs flexible and physically capable
Able to respond to occasional emergencies
Prepared for some holiday‑time tasks
Can lift, carry and work at heights
