Role Overview
The Pentland Hills Regional Park Engagement Intern will assist with stakeholder consultation for the Pentland Hills Regional Park Strategic Management Plan, develop and manage promotional and consultation materials, and record responses to support engagement activities.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the development of the new Strategic Management Plan, including stakeholder consultation, managing promotional material for engagement events, and recording and compiling responses.
* Collaborate with the Greenspace Project Development Officer to develop key themes for the Strategic Management Plan.
* Develop and deliver an Engagement and Communications Action Plan, ensuring all activities are fully planned, documented, and shared.
* Assist with facilitation at consultation events, workshops, engagement exercises, and practical activities with community groups and other stakeholders.
* Support the development and promotion of positive messages for Pentland Hills Regional Park.
* Work directly with the Pentland Hills Greenspace Project Development Officer and other regional park staff as appropriate.
* Adapt to tight time‑scales, conflicting priorities, and stakeholder requirements with a flexible approach.
* Work in an office environment for approximately 75% of the time, with around 25% time spent on engagement activities.

* Co‑operate with management and follow safety systems and procedures.
* Report hazards, damage or defects immediately to your line manager.
* Report any personal injury, work‑related ill health, accidents, or incidents (including near misses) immediately to your line manager and cooperate fully with any investigation.
Qualifications & Experience
* Graduated level education with excellent communication skills.
* Proficient in common IT packages and quick to learn bespoke systems.
* Ability to develop proposals within a strategic context.
* Capability to build, develop, and manage stakeholder relations at all levels, internally and externally.
* Skill in collating relevant information, responding accurately and timely, and providing useful information to the team.
Working Details
Location: 109/11 Swanston Rd, Edinburgh EH10 7DS
Working pattern: Office based and hybrid
Hours: 36 hours per week
Wage: £13.45 per hour
Placement length: 6 months starting approximately 1st July 2026
Eligibility Requirements
* Eligible to work in the United Kingdom for the full length of the placement (valid visa required).
* Available for the entire 6‑month placement and able to travel to the location.
