Production Manager – Metalworking / Sheet Metal Manufacturing
Location: Huddersfield (full time on-site)
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: 7:00am – 4:45pm | 4-day working week
Reporting to: Managing Director
Team: 8 Supervisors
A well-established manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee day-to-day operations within a metalworking production environment. This role will take responsibility for coordinating manufacturing activity, managing production teams, and ensuring products are delivered on time, to the required quality standards.
You will play a key role in driving productivity, improving operational efficiency, and maintaining a safe and organised manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, organise and oversee daily manufacturing operations
• Develop and manage production schedules to meet delivery commitments
• Manage materials, equipment and workforce to achieve production targets
• Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions when required
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality and operational standards
• Lead and support production teams, including supervision and staff development
• Work closely with sales, logistics, quality and procurement to coordinate production activity
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and cost control
• Analyse production data to identify waste, delays or overtime issues
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised factory environment
• Ensure compliance with relevant manufacturing regulations and standards
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production operation
• Manage inventory requirements for production supplies and materials
What We're Looking For
• Experience as a Production Manager, Plant Manager or Manufacturing Manager
• Background in metalworking, sheet metal, fabrication or similar manufacturing environments
• Strong understanding of production processes, machinery and factory operations
• Experience leading and developing production teams
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving capability in a manufacturing environment
• Good understanding of health & safety, quality and productivity standards
• Ability to manage production schedules and respond to operational challenges
• Strong communication and organisational skills
