The Opportunity A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support operations at a high-hazard manufacturing site. This is a key role focused on ensuring mechanical integrity, driving project delivery, and enhancing safety and compliance across the plant. We would also welcome applications from these industries: chemical manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, petrochemicals, and industrial processing. This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Mechanical Project Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Plant Engineer, COMAH Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Asset Integrity Engineer, Engineering Lead, Safety Engineer, or Engineering Compliance Specialist. Your duties and responsibilities will be Lead mechanical engineering projects from concept through to completion, ensuring safety and performance targets are met Deliver technical support across plant operations, troubleshooting issues and driving improvements Develop and implement maintenance strategies to optimise equipment reliability and reduce downtime Participate in HAZOP reviews and safety assessments to identify and mitigate operational risks Oversee contractor activities and ensure work is delivered to required standards and regulationsYou will have the following qualifications and experience Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline Proven experience in a COMAH site environment, ideally within chemical, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical sectors Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment, and associated safety regulations (e.g. PUWER, LOLER, PED) Demonstrated ability to manage projects and maintenance programmes effectively Skilled in risk assessment, safety audits, and engineering compliance activitiesGet in touch now If you're seeking a new opportunity and think you have the skills and experience, we are looking for, then apply now or contact Chris Hill.
