The Combined Authority is looking for a Governance, Risk & Compliance Officer to support our five internal strategic leadership boards.

Due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will be subject to relevant vetting checks at the appropriate level and any job offer will be conditional subject to successful vetting clearance. Applicants should be aware that it is not possible to make meaningful vetting enquiries in many jurisdictions outside the UK. Vetting clearance cannot therefore be granted if the applicant has not been resident in the UK for the relevant minimum period and comparable vetting enquiries cannot be made in jurisdictions where the individual has been residing.

As our Governance, Risk and Compliance Officer, you will be key in ensuring that senior leaders have full and accurate information on which to make decisions affecting the West Yorkshire region. Working closely with the Chief Executive’s office and the directors of the Combined Authority, you will have responsibility for governance processes, including producing agendas, taking and typing minutes, maintaining action logs, and recording decisions made by the strategic leadership team.

The Role
Reporting into the Assistant Director (Legal, Governance & Compliance) your key responsibilities will include:
* In partnership with the Head of the Chief Executive’s Office, plan and manage the corporate calendar of internal meetings, based on a sound understanding of the functions of different meetings and their interrelationships and the annual cycle.
* Organising, scheduling, and attending meetings, managing agendas, taking accurate minutes, and following up on action points.
* Maintaining the internal governance process associated with the strategic leadership boards.

About You
You will have the following key skills, attributes, education, and experience:
* Ability to communicate with sensitivity and tact with colleagues at all levels in the organisation.
* Experience working to set deadlines, with the ability to manage changing priorities and urgent issues.
* Ability to respond calmly and effectively to challenge and changing demands.
* Understanding of the need for a high degree of confidentiality, discretion and integrity at all times.
* Previous experience in delivery of governance functions and/or meeting administration in a complex organisation.
