Key Responsibilities & Requirements Technical: Read and interpret technical drawings and relevant documentation. Set up and safely use trench boxes, drag boxes, and manhole boxes. Operate pipe lasers accurately for line and level. Lay concrete, clay, and plastic pipes of all sizes, ensuring correct bedding, surround, and testing procedures. Drainage & Groundwater Management: Manage groundwater effectively, including setting up and operating appropriately sized pumps. Ensure correct trench backfilling procedures are followed. Construct and bench manholes to specification. Site Safety & Coordination: Work safely around live services using service avoidance techniques. Carry out daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on plant and equipment. Communicate maintenance or service requirements promptly to the site management team. External Works Experience (Desirable): Kerbing, edging, slab laying, and block paving. Sound understanding of materials and methods for underground drainage, road formation, and hard/soft landscaping. Desirable Skills & Experience 5–10 years’ experience in skilled groundworks, with a strong focus on deep drainage. Additional CPCS/NPORS* tickets – Telehandlers, Dumpers, Rollers. Experienced working gangs or teams are highly sought after. What We Expect Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
