SEN Teacher Location: Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire Start Date: January / February 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time / direct contract through interviews GSL Education’s Hull branch is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to work with Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is based at a specialist SEN school and Alternative Provision in Hull, supporting young people who need a tailored and supportive learning environment. About the School The provision supports secondary pupils with SEMH and associated SEND needs, delivering a personalised curriculum that improves confidence, emotional regulation, and engagement. The school focuses on small group teaching, pastoral support, and positive behaviour strategies to help pupils re-engage with learning and achieve meaningful outcomes. Leadership is committed to curriculum development and aligning practice with independent school standards. Responsibilities Deliver high-quality teaching to students with SEMH, primarily in small group settings Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) with staff, parents, and professionals Mark and assess work, tracking pupil progress against EHCP outcomes Use a trauma-informed and behaviour-aware approach, recognising triggers and early warning signs Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times Requirements UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE Minimum 6 months’ experience in SEN or Alternative Provision settings Experience supporting secondary pupils with SEMH and additional needs Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to apply through GSL Education) Safeguarding A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection is essential.
