Consultant Radiologist (Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology)
Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly, forward‑thinking team of 32 Consultant Radiologists at the Royal United Hospital Bath. This replacement post is intended to meet the increasing demand for interventional and diagnostic radiology services and to help establish an interventional oncology service.
The post is full‑time. Part‑time applicants are also encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include participation in the interventional radiology (IR) on‑call rota (8:00‑17:00, 7 days per week, 1:5 coverage). Participation in the diagnostic on‑call rota is optional. Home PACS links are available.
Main Duties
* Provide a range of non‑vascular interventional radiology procedures and be competent in haemorrhage control.
* Maintain a good level of diagnostic radiology competence; an additional specialty area of interest is encouraged but not essential.
* Contribute to general radiology work in conjunction with other radiologists, performing regular general radiology sessions.
* Support the establishment of an interventional oncology practice, including thermal ablation and elective embolisation.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GMC recognised general medical qualification.
* Full GMC registration with practice licence.
* FRCR.
* On the Specialist Register/post‑CCT at commencement.
Required Skills
* Fully accredited clinical radiologist on GMC specialist register.
* Extensive current general radiological practice suitable to a district general hospital, including general on‑call skills.
* Motivated to contribute to general and specialised work, maintaining high standards of personal development.
* Completion of recognised interventional radiology training programme.
Desirable Skills
* Recognised interventional radiology fellowship.
* Non‑IR subspecialty imaging experience (e.g., GU or GI radiology).
Personal Attributes
* Good interpersonal skills, ability to relate to staff and patients.
* Committed to teamwork.
* Effective verbal and written communication tailored to audience.
* Ability to work under pressure.
Desirable Attributes
* Evidence of adaptability, time‑management and learning.

Teaching Experience
* Ability to support multidisciplinary teaching and subspecialty training.
* Previous experience of teaching undergraduates and junior colleagues preferred.
Research Experience
* Interest in departmental audit and research.
* Ability to organise postgraduate research.
Management and Administration
* Awareness of audit process, appraisal, principles of clinical governance, confidentiality and data protection.
* Proven track record of audit (desirable).
