GSL Education are seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive school setting in Derby (DE1). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping students develop confidence, resilience, and positive learning habits. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in improving engagement and supporting pupil well-being.
This role is perfect for individuals with experience in youth work, behaviour support, SEND, pastoral care, or anyone committed to supporting vulnerable learners.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support to pupils who require additional guidance.
* Help students develop coping strategies, emotional regulation skills, and positive behaviours.
* Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage engagement in learning.
* Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral staff to implement support plans.
* Support behaviour interventions, de-escalation techniques, and restorative approaches.
* Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive environment for all learners.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, youth worker, teaching assistant, or similar role.
* A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting young people.
* Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
* The ability to remain calm under pressure and respond confidently in challenging situations.
* A genuine desire to make a positive impact in education.
* Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
