About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced public involvement professionals to ensure the public voice is at the forefront of Imperial Biomedical Research Centre’s (BRC) health research. In addition, you will be passionate about public involvement in research and engaging with underrepresented communities.
What you would be doing
Two positions are currently available to undertake the following, but not restricted to:
1. Provide public involvement advice, support and training to researchers funded by the NIHR Imperial BRC to ensure they are carrying out high quality, meaningful PPIEP activities.
2. Co-facilitate PPIEP activities with researchers funded by the NIHR Imperial BRC where appropriate/as required (these may be on weekends and after hours)
3. Establish and maintain trusted reciprocal relationships with community leaders and groups (in particular those who are underrepresented in research and under-served) across the following NWL boroughs Brent, Ealing, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Westminster in order to involve and engage (and promote participation of) community members in Imperial BRC research
You will contribute to the implementation of the Imperial BRC’s Patient Public Involvement, Engagement and Participation (PPIEP) strategy (2022 to 2027) which includes broadening the diversity of public contributors involved in the BRC’s public involvement, engagement and participation in research activities. This includes promoting and facilitating the inclusion of under-represented and underserved groups in research.
You will work with a multidisciplinary team of colleagues within the Patient Experience Research Centre and across Imperial College and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
What we are looking for
You will need a Master’s degree or equivalent of working in public involvement in research and engaging with members of the public/communities from diverse backgrounds and understanding of their dynamics, needs and challenges.

Further Information
This role is full-time, fixed term for 12 months in the first instance.
