Iris Care Group is looking to appoint an Assistant Psychologist (AP) to work at Pinetree Court Hospital, which is a 29-bed low secure psychiatric hospital speciailising in the rehabilitation of people with learning disabilities (LD) who have been detained under a section of the Mental Health Act. The patients often present comorbidly with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), forensic histories and other complex mental health presentations as well.
We are looking for a psychology graduate with GBC (graduate basis for chartership) of the BPS (British Psychological Society) who may have been employed previously as an assistant psychologist. Where not employed previously as an assistant psychologist support work or similar for Iris Care Group or a similar health and social care provider would be required.
We are looking to appoint to a full-time post working with another AP, four PWP’s (positive practice workers) and two qualified psychologists as well. The main duties include managing a caseload with close supervision, supporting group psychoeducation, providing practice leadership on the wards, developing PBS (positive behaviour support) plans, attending meetings related to the care and support we provide, training and supporting ward-based staff and other duties as required. The role is closely supported and supervised by the Principal Psychologist.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who is interested in eventually becoming a clinical, forensic, counselling or educational psychologist. Training and support will be provided to the appointed candidate to support their development within the role and towards doctoral training.
