SEND Specialist Outreach Worker
We are recruiting on behalf of a local authority for a SEND Specialist Outreach Worker to join their Specialist Inclusion Team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and help schools deliver high-quality, inclusive education.
The role
You will work closely with mainstream schools, educational settings, families and other professionals to ensure children and young people with SEND receive the right support at the right time. Your focus will be on cognition and learning, helping settings to identify needs early, implement effective strategies, and embed a strong graduated approach (assess, plan, do, review).
Key duties include:
Providing ongoing casework and monitoring how effectively SEND strategies are implemented in schools
Delivering and modelling targeted interventions for individuals and small groups
Offering specialist advice, assessment and recommendations within cognition and learning
Supporting schools to overcome challenges and improve inclusive practice
Working directly with children, young people and families to develop and implement support strategies
Contributing to Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments, plans and reviews
Delivering training and developing resources to build capacity within schools
Collaborating with multi-agency professionals to ensure a joined-up approach
About you
Experience supporting children and young people with SEND, particularly cognition and learning needs
Strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practice (e.g. SEND Code of Practice)
Experience delivering interventions and working within educational settings
Confidence working directly with families and professionals
Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills
Ability to manage your own workload and maintain accurate records
Requirements
Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) as a minimum
Relevant SEND qualification
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (adjustments considered)
