We are partnering with a Managing General Agent who specialise in Drone Insurance and are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their dynamic team.
As a Senior Drone Underwriter, you will manage the underwriting process from pre-quote to post-bind for drone insurance policies, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth and success, as well as using your expertise to help optimise the company's portfolio, seize market opportunities, and deliver exceptional value to clients.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
* Supporting drone underwriters with analysis of new quote enquiries and propositions
* Processing, onboarding, and managing drone insurance documentation
* Daily communication with London Market brokers to review coverage requirements
* Ensure all incoming quotes are logged and accurately attached to the relevant computer record
* Ensure filing/records are accurate and up to date
* Ensuring Underwriting controls and Delegated authority compliance
* Prepare documentation for the client files and enable the team to forward to stakeholders in a timely fashion
* Define and create Business development opportunities with both brokers and capacity providers
* Work closely with key external stakeholders, capacity providers and brokers
* Develop broker engagement strategies
* Work with internal teams in particular finance to support the policy life cycle of the from bound to payment and renewal.
* Have an awareness of business development opportunities of existing and new accounts
* Provide Underwriting report for the Executive Committee and Board when required
* Weekly Monthly and Annual Underwriting MI reporting
* Ad hoc reporting on Underwriting trends and development.
* Assist with any other duties required to contribute to the workflow of the department and office
* Attending exciting and innovative industry conferences focused on the new emerging world of drone insurance.
* Assisting with drone market research, to help shape and develop our product offering.
* Continue to build upon knowledge of drone regulations and operations by attending industry seminars, interacting with global regulators, and networking events
* Maintain awareness of responsibilities under FCA and other regulatory, compliance and market standards and ensure all business is conducted in accordance with these requirements
* Undertake Continuing Professional Development to ensure knowledge and skills are maintained to a competent level and in line with regulatory requirements
* You will work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including internal teams (operations, compliance, finance) and external partners (brokers, clients, insurers, Lloyd's). Building and maintaining strong relationships will be crucial to your success in this role.
Education & Qualifications
* A numerical degree would be beneficial but not essential.
* ACII desirable
* Experience of operating effectively at senior management level and of influencing Board/senior management and other stakeholders
* Strong commercial awareness and ability to advise on corporate/commercial issues.
* Proven experience in a senior underwriting role, ideally in the Lloyd's market
* Knowledge of all functions and activities of an Underwriting Agency
* Highly numerate with a deep understanding of pricing risks and rate adequacy
