Academics works closely with SEN and Mainstream schools in and around Huddersfield, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join their team.
About the Role as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant:
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside teachers and support staff to provide tailored assistance to students with additional learning needs. You’ll help pupils build confidence, develop essential skills, and engage positively in their education — making a real difference every day.
Key Responsibilities of a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant:
• Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with a range of special educational needs (including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and SEMH).
• Assist in planning and delivering tailored lessons and learning activities.
• Support pupils in managing behaviour and developing social and emotional skills.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
The Ideal Candidate:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, or youth work settings).
• Patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic with a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
• Strong communication skills.
• A hands-on, positive approach to supporting learning and wellbeing.
