The postholder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering a range of designated tasks/duties of a clinical and non- clinical nature including personal compassionate care to patients, working within agreed policy and procedures.
The post holder will be expected to communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, relatives and carers.
The post holder will work under the supervision of the NMC Registrant at all times, who holds delegated accountability for the work designated.
Demonstrate an understanding of the principles that are applied to maintaining the safety of children and how to respond to and report any disclosures. Safeguarding Children and Adults is Everyones responsibility. In order to protect children and vulnerable adults, all staff are required to be familiar with and adhere to the safeguarding adults and children policy.
Understanding of patient confidentiality, examples may include recording of information and sharing of information relating to the care you are providing, keeping up to date with mandatory training.
Understanding infection control examples will include safe handling and disposal of soiled linen, understanding of the need and appropriate use of personal protective equipment, working in a way that prevents any spread of infection keeping up to date through mandatory training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work under the supervision and guidance of the Registered Nurses.
The post holder will assist and participate in the delivery of nursing care to patients.
The post holder will be expected to adhere to Trust Health and Safety Policies, reporting any unsafe environment issues to the senior nurse in the department.
In all aspects of your work you have a duty and responsibility to comply with all components of the Trusts Infection Control Policy and the Hygiene Code, ensuring compliance with any specific role responsibilities outlined within this policy.
The post holder will undertake a range of duties as designated by the Registered Nurses including:
* Venepuncture
* Wound care
* Basic baseline observations
* Glucose testing
* Urinalysis
* Working 1:1 with doctors in clinic

Qualifications
* Care Certificate
* Completion of a clinical skills competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake.
* GCSE Maths & English or qualified to equivalent Functional skills level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake.
Knowledge and Awareness
* Confidentiality understanding of Information Governance
* Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety
* Knowledge of clinical patient observations
* Willingness to undertake competencies supported by clinical skills training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge in a range of clinical interventions and use of test equipment e.g. blood glucose monitors, venepuncture, cannulation etc.
* Knowledge and understanding of current healthcare issues
