We are looking for highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individuals to join our Cellular Pathology team within Pathology.
As an Associate Practitioner you will work in collaboration with Biomedical Scientists and other colleagues assisting in the provision of a diagnostic service.
Participation in the rota is compulsory, including weekend, bank holiday early and late shifts.
The post is based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and may require covering absences across sites including The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Mainly involved in the day‑to‑day running of the slide scanners and ensuring quality and efficiency of the scanning is maintained.
* Responsible for daily maintenance of the scanners and ensuring that the outputs are of high quality.
* Work in all areas of the Histology Laboratory and be involved in provision of the technical service.
* Check that the correct sample type has been received, correct sample labelling and suitability for diagnostic investigations, in accordance with Pathology laboratory policies and standard operating procedures.
* Input data on the laboratory computer system and troubleshoot issues that may arise. Perform an increasing range of laboratory tests, many of which are of a non‑routine nature, requiring experience, theoretical and technical knowledge.
* Participate in the provision of a 6/7 day working service as part of an average 37.5 hour working week – including weekends and bank/public holidays.
