Operations Compliance Executive
Band: UKRI Band D (UKRI Ts & Cs)
Salary: £37,841 gross per annum

Location: Swindon (Hybrid Working)
Contract: Fixed Term Until 26/02/2027
Role Overview
The Operations Compliance Executive is a key member of the Operations Support team within Innovate UK. The role ensures that all funding competitions and associated processes adhere to Government Grant Standards, Managing Public Money principles, Cabinet Office guidelines, and State Aid/Subsidy Compliance laws. Operating with some autonomy, the Compliance Executive safeguards Innovate UK’s reputation by supporting maintenance of robust assurance processes and audit trails across the funding lifecycle. The role supports and implements operational decisions, engages with senior stakeholders across Innovate UK and forms part of a small team to deliver compliance and assurance objectives within the wider Operational support team.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Maintain and strengthen operational compliance and auditability
* Manage stakeholder and senior management expectations and needs of Compliance within Operations
* Work closely with Process Champions network, build relationships to support them to document and maintain team processes within the Signavio BPM tool
* Manage your own workload proactively using Outlook and tools such as Teams tasks lists
* Work collaboratively within Operations Compliance team, wider Operational support team and Operations
* Lead Process champion training sessions for Signavio BPM tool and lead and provide cover for other key meetings such as team meetings or process owner review meetings
* Support and carry out Operations wide quarterly internal audits, providing coaching and training where necessary to Operations key stakeholders
* Support the implementation of any external audit recommendations and feedback
* Take responsibility for some team reporting including collating necessary information, data and presentation to deadlines
* Work with Operations Compliance manager to support operational continuous improvement initiatives, development and reporting
* Manage process creation according to Compliance standards and from a Continuous Improvement perspective
* Escalate to Operations Compliance manager any Compliance risks identified
* Explain where needed the risks of non‑compliance to stakeholders
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Education to degree level or equivalent
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience
* Experience of leading the delivery (or parts) of a project or process
* Clear experience of working with a broad range of stakeholder groups at all levels, including senior and technical individuals
* Proven ability to work within the constraints of time, cost and quality
* Substantial experience of documenting processes (S&I)
* A clear track‑record of developing and managing highly effective working relationships (S&I)
* Experience of leading/managing stakeholders and customers in business meetings
* A track‑record of driving your own work, without the requirement for hands‑on supervision (S&I)
* Familiar with the organisational challenges associated with formalising business processes and change in growing organisations (S&I)
* Facilitating workshops and delivering coaching and/or training sessions (I)
