Job Purpose: The Road Freight Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of road freight operations, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and compliant transport of goods across the UK and Europe. This role involves managing teams, coordinating logistics processes, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partners. Key Responsibilities: Operational Management: Oversee end-to-end road freight operations, including import/export and groupage services. Ensure compliance with UK and international road freight regulations. Monitor and analyze KPIs to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of freight forwarders, traffic planners, and drivers. Provide training, coaching, and performance management. Customer & Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and overseas agents. Negotiate competitive rates and service agreements. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement cost-control measures and route optimization strategies. Collaborate with sales and operations teams to create tailored logistics solutions. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to all legal, safety, and company standards. Prepare accurate operational and financial reports for senior management. Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience in road freight operations management (UK & European). Strong knowledge of customs procedures and transport regulations. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office suite. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities. Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) preferred.
