Job Description

Role: Commercial Officer

Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term

Location: Oxford, UK

Our client is a leading name in the aerospace and helicopter sector, recognised for delivering exceptional standards across aircraft sales, bespoke completions, maintenance, and support services. Their UK site serves as a centre of excellence for civil and military rotary operations, providing engineering, design, and certification expertise to a wide range of customers. They also play a key role in supporting critical government and defence aviation programmes across the UK.

The Opportunity: Commercial Officer

We are seeking a Commercial Officer to join the commercial business team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a pivotal role offering exposure to high-value contracts and collaboration across multiple departments, ensuring smooth execution of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) agreements as well as long-term service support contracts.

You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders such as Sales, Material Management, Production, Maintenance, and Finance to ensure the commercial success of key projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Contract Lifecycle Management: Lead the execution and close-out of “By the Hours” or service-based contracts, including drafting offers and agreements.
* Negotiation & Change Management: Act as the primary commercial point of contact, leading negotiation and execution of contract amendments and change orders.
* Financial & Performance Analysis: Monitor commercial performance, manage pricing reviews to ensure profitability, and track service usage for accurate customer invoicing.
* Risk Reporting: Prepare reports and analysis for leadership teams, outlining profit, risk, and performance indicators.
* Process Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing development of commercial and contract management processes across the organisation.
* Provide flexible support across the wider Support & Services and Commercial functions as required.

What You’ll Bring

Essential Skills & Experience

* Degree in Business, Engineering, Aerospace Management, or related discipline.
* Previous experience in commercial or contract management roles within an engineering or technical environment.
* Strong negotiation, financial analysis, and business case development skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset.

Desirable Skills & Experience

* Background in aviation, aerospace, or other complex technical industries.
* Working knowledge of contract law and its practical application.
