Role: Director of Operations
Sector: Hard Services Maintenance Engineering Delivery
Location: North West - National Travel when required
Salary: £95k - £100k + car allowance + bonus

The Opportunity:
We are supporting a growing FM and technical services business, part of a wider group to appoint a Director of Operations.
The organisation delivers services across a diverse commercial portfolio including education, high-rise residential, retail, advanced education, healthcare and critical sites.
This is a pivotal senior leadership role with full operational accountability across multiple business units. The mandate is to transform operational performance, strengthen leadership capability, and scale the business.
Reporting directly to the MD, you will play a key role in shaping the operating model, delivery capability, and long-term growth strategy of the business.
You will have full responsibility for the operational performance, profitability, and delivery capability of all service lines across the organisation.
This includes leadership across:
Facilities Management
Projects & Small Works
Reactive & pPanned maintenance engineering
Minor Works
Helpdesk
You will lead and align multiple leaders
This is a role for a leader capable of operating strategically whilst remaining close to operational delivery.
Operations is the product.
Performance, Profitability & Efficiency
Full operational P&L ownership across all delivery functions
Driving margin improvement, cost control, and productivity gains
Improving engineering utilisation and operational efficiency
Enhancing planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
Delivering continuous improvement initiatives across all service lines
Strengthening reporting, KPI visibility, and operational governance
Growth & Transformation
Supporting business growth
Leading mobilisation and integration of new contracts into operational delivery
Expanding the Projects and Minor Works division as a strategic growth area
Designing scalable operating models capable of supporting long-term growth
Leading transformation initiatives including:
Process standardisation
Operational redesign
Service improvement programmes
Potential in-sourcing strategies
Compliance & Risk
Ensuring full compliance across regulated and safety-critical environments including:
Building Safety
SFG20
Embedding strong governance, audit readiness, and risk management frameworks
Maintaining high standards of operational compliance across all business units
Stakeholder & Client Leadership
Acting as a senior operational leader across the business and wider group
Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and group leadership
Supporting strategic client relationships alongside the Director of Client Services
Ensuring operational delivery aligns with commercial and contractual commitments
What We're Looking For
Proven experience at Director or senior Operations leadership level within technical FM or multi-disciplinary services
Strong background across:
Hard services FM
Engineering
Projects
Infrastructure-led operational environments
Experience leading multiple operational disciplines or business units
Demonstrated P&L ownership with a track record of improving operational performance and profitability
Experience leading through senior operational leaders (Directors / Heads of Function)
Strong understanding of regulated and compliance-led environments
Proven ability to scale operational businesses and delivery functions
Able to operate confidently across both strategic leadership and operational detail
