Higher Level Apprentice (HLA) – Engineering
To effectively support both reactive and preventative maintenance activities as part of the DELI LITES Engineering team, while undertaking a structured learning and development programme leading to a recognised engineering qualification.

Based at Warrenpoint, Newry, Northern Ireland

Your Duties:
* Work alongside experienced maintenance engineers to support the day-to-day reactive and preventative maintenance of production equipment and machinery.
* Participate in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules to maximise equipment uptime and reduce the risk of breakdowns.
* Assist in identifying, reporting, and resolving mechanical and electrical faults to support smooth production operations.
* Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the site by observing and applying Health & Safety protocols at all times.
* Support the Engineering Manager and team in maintaining accurate maintenance records and compliance with internal and external standards.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment by adhering to company policies and 5S workplace organisation standards.
* Participate in engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives under supervision.
* Build a working knowledge of tools, equipment, parts and spares used in the maintenance function.
* Attend college/university as required by your HLA programme and complete all assignments, coursework and exams on time.
* Engage actively with mentors and supervisors to develop technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and workplace professionalism.
Required Skills and Competencies:
* Enrolled (or eligible to enrol) in a recognised Higher Level Apprenticeship in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Mechatronics).
* Minimum of Level 3 qualification (e.g. A-Levels, BTEC Extended Diploma, or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.
* A genuine interest in engineering, problem-solving, and hands-on technical work.
* Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
* Self-motivated, reliable, and eager to learn new skills both on-the-job and through formal education.
* Basic understanding of Health & Safety in a workplace setting.
* Ability to manage time effectively to meet both work and study commitments.
