Mental Health Support Worker, Young People – Offerton, Stockport
Salary: £24,570 - £25,662 (Dependent on Experience)
Hours: Full Time 37.5 hours per week

Responsibilities
* Update online care records and complete medication administration as part of daily duties.
* Support young people to develop independence through education, household tasks and general life skills.
* Assist with maintaining a safe, homely environment and ensure the upkeep and tidiness of the home.
* Provide supportive care using a therapeutic approach to help individuals achieve their goals and prepare for transition to adult life.
* Promote transition planning for moving on from the home, including helping with self-administration of medication, returning to education, accessing public transport and appointments independently.
* Participate in activities with young people, including outings and events (e.g., festivals, local activities) while maintaining professional boundaries.
Essential requirements (Healthcare Support Worker)
* Flexibility to work shifts including weekends and bank holidays
* Must be able to attend training throughout employment (weekday sessions)
* Good written skills and the ability to write basic reports and record information accurately
* Basic IT skills for completing forms, using online care systems, and writing emails
* Good verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to others
* Ability to maintain a professional working boundary
* Ability to remain calm in emergencies and support others during difficult situations
Desirable Criteria
* Full UK Driving Licence
* NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care
* Previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs

Additional information
At our Stockport home, you will work with young people with a range of mental health diagnoses, including personality disorders, challenges related to food, and self-harm. You will need to be patient and resilient to support them with improving relationships with food and managing incidents of self-harm. You will support transitions to community living and help with tasks such as self-administering medication, education, and independent appointments. The home is a 4-bed, detached property between Stockport town centre and Marple, with a garden and activity areas.
The job is a strong entry point for career development in working with young people or mental health, and full training will be provided. Previous care experience is not essential, and ongoing mentoring is available from our residential and clinical teams.
