Job Role: Hard Services Manager (Electrical Bias)
Reporting to: Operations Manager

Purpose of the Job: Responsible for all electrical services throughout the site, including critical systems, ensuring 24/7 operational performance of all systems and assets to maintain business functions. The role supervises the team of site engineers to deliver preventative and reactive maintenance and operational services. It is a critical role for maintaining business continuity and serves as the point of contact outside normal hours for engineering issues. The Hard Services Manager oversees all building services, acts as the main on-site control point, and ensures the operational performance and safety of the building, managing specialist contractors and engineers to deliver high-quality service.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and lead the electrical team, ensuring maintenance tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with standards.
2. Control all electrical facilities, systems, and works on the site.
3. Stay updated on engineering developments and technology advancements for implementation.
4. Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe execution of high-risk electrical tasks.
5. Serve as a technical contact for clients and site staff, providing guidance on contractor RAMS and assessing contractor competencies.
6. Advise on technical training needs for site staff.
7. Investigate incidents, provide technical reports, and keep relevant managers informed.
8. Manage the Permit to Work system, ensuring safety compliance.
9. Respond to electrical emergencies promptly to minimize disruptions.
10. Identify improvements for plant and equipment reliability and cost efficiency, developing documentation and policies.
11. Develop training plans for staff development related to installed equipment.
12. Ensure health and safety legislative compliance, collaborating with HSE and technical managers.
13. Assist in developing and maintaining method statements and best practices.
14. Work with subcontractors to maintain high standards of maintenance.
15. Liaise with management during emergencies and assist clients with technical issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installations, HNC in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
* 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification.
* Strong knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), fire safety, and critical infrastructure.
* Preferably working towards incorporated engineering registration (CIBSE, IET, IMechE, or similar).
* Supervisory experience and people management skills.
* IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
* Good knowledge of electrical and building services (HVAC, boilers, generators, UPS, etc.).
* Proven experience with Permit to Work systems and safety compliance.
* Experience in preventative and reactive maintenance, leading teams under pressure.
