About the Pub Located on the main road into the affluent town of Petworth that is situated directly oppoiste the National Trust, Petworth House. The Stonemasons is a characterful 17th century two storey detached Grade II listed brick built property with two and single storey additions to side and rea with a mixture of clay tile and slate pitched roofs. The site has large commercial kitchen to serve the 40 cover venue. The site also benefits from four letting rooms, that encompasses four double rooms above the pub and one external room outside. To the rear there is a raised brick patio and a lawned garden for guests to enjoy in the summer months. There is also car parking to the front and side. Regional Manager's Thoughts The Stonemasons has such lovely character, being detatched, low ceilings with the orginal wooden beams and open fire places. I can really see this site being brought back to life by an experienced operator with a good vision for food and the letting rooms. Surrounding Area The Stonemasons is situated on the outskirts of the West Sussex town of Petworth which lies in a picturesque area of rolling countryside, within the South Downs National Park. The town is very historic, being the location of the 17th Century stately home Petworth House, the grounds of which (known as Petworth Park) were the work of Capability Brown. The house and its grounds are now owned and maintained by the National Trust and draw tourism to the area, with the entrance to the car park located almost opposite the Stonemasons. The town is accessed via the A272 between Haywards Heath and Petersfield, which runs through the South Downs National Park.
