Overview
We are seeking experienced individuals who have the drive and ability to make a difference in enabling our services to support the delivery of excellent patient care. Our large, diverse team is committed to continuous improvement which presents excellent development opportunities for our staff.
You will have the responsibility to deliver high-quality management accounting involving the analysis of financial information, preparation of financial reports and helping non-Finance colleagues to interpret and understand financial principles and procedures. You will be managing and supervising junior members of staff and will need to demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills. You should ideally have gained or be studying towards an accountancy qualification. You will have proven ability to analyse large volumes of data and transform it into meaningful reports and information (mainly through excel). Although previous experience of working in a large organisation is desirable, it is more important that applicants can demonstrate confidence, analytical ability, and a flexible approach to the demands of the job.
Main duties
The Senior Management Accountant will be required to communicate changes and trends to budget holders and be able to manage communication to a wide range of senior people in the trust including providing ongoing training and support. You will be responsible for the development and supervision of junior management accounting staff. They will also be a key participant in all month-end, annual stock take and year-end activities. You will take a lead in creating new reports and supporting the Deputy Head of Finance with analytical and costing projects in response to management and organisational needs. The volume and diversity of reports produced means that priority setting will be important in ensuring that trends or problems are fully investigated and understood each month. You are expected to take an active interest in the development of their skills, experience and career. They will be expected to deputise for the Deputy Head of Finance.
