Civil Design Engineer
Leeds
An award-winning, 100% employee-owned Design Consultancy with a proud 60-year heritage is looking to appoint a motivated Civil Engineer to join its growing Leeds office. With a strong pipeline of secured work and an expanding regional presence, this opportunity is perfectly suited to a junior engineer seeking real responsibility, meaningful project exposure and structured professional development within a people-focused Consultancy.
The Leeds team plays a central role in shaping some of the city's most recognisable developments, including the Tetley Brewery redevelopment, the Wellington Place masterplan and City Reach. The office also delivers major education and healthcare schemes for organisations such as the University of Leeds, the University of York and the University of Huddersfield, alongside ongoing work with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust including the Rob Burrow MND Centre and the wider redevelopment of Leeds General Infirmary. These are high-profile projects that make a tangible and lasting difference to local communities.
As a Civil Engineer with a drainage focus, you will play an active role in the design and coordination of building drainage and Sustainable Drainage Systems across a broad range of sectors, from city-centre mixed-use schemes to education and healthcare facilities. You will gain exposure to projects from early concept through to detailed design, working collaboratively with architects, Structural Engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, sustainable infrastructure solutions.
The Consultancy is engaged in forward-thinking initiatives including the DfE offsite framework, Modern Methods of Construction and the NHS Net Zero Building Standard, providing valuable experience in contemporary, future-focused design approaches. As the Leeds team continues to grow, you will be encouraged to take ownership of elements of projects while benefiting from mentorship and structured support from experienced senior engineers.
The successful Civil Engineer will have working knowledge of Civils 3D and Flow, along with a solid understanding of drainage design principles and Sustainable Drainage Systems. You will be confident liaising with local authorities and wider project stakeholders, and ideally will have some exposure to Flood Risk Assessments and bulk earthworks. You will also be progressing along a recognised professional institution training pathway, with full support towards chartership provided by the Consultancy.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious early-career Civil Engineer who wants to accelerate their development within a collaborative, employee-owned Consultancy where people are genuinely invested in, contributions are valued, and long-term careers are built.
