About The Freight HubThe Freight Hub team is responsible for running our automated facility near the Christchurch Airport. We sort courier product for the local Christchurch branch as well as inter-island freight via our Air and Road networks. Our network is the strength behind New Zealand Couriers and the work of our team is all about ensuring that freight is moved safely, accurately and on time so that couriers can deliver effectively. Our team is very diverse with people from different walks of life, working together to get the job done.
This is a fixed-term role until 19 December 2025Hours:Monday to Thursday - 9:00PM to 5:30AM + Sunday -12:00PM to 8:30PM
While most people sleep, our freight network is in full swing. If you’re a night owl or like to have your days free, this role could be for you. This is a physical role and will require you being on your feet for long periods as well as being able to lift heavy items on occasion (up to 25kg). You will be part of a team responsible for the accurate and timely sorting of parcels that travel through our automated facility. It is important that you are reliable, punctual and that you have a sense of humour.
Key Duties Include:
* Load and unload conveyable product onto our cross-belt sorter.
* Sort items accurately to courier run or branch level.
* Stack product effectively to reduce damage.
* Handle freight with care i.e fragile items.
* Follow guidelines and directions relating to our Health and Safety policy.
* Hourly rate + Night allowance $3.50 per hour
* Sunday allowance $ 5.00 per hour
* Full PPE provided
There may be an opportunity for permanent employment if a position becomes available after the fixed-term role concludes.
Applicants need to reside in New Zealand and have the appropriate Visa or Permanent Residence before applying.Applicants are required to undertake a short comprehension and reading test during the interview to ensure adequate levels of comprehension for accurate manual sorting.A criminal history check (MOJ Report) along with pre-employment drug test is required.
