We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Powys to assist with the appointment of a Waste and Recycling - Driver, on a 2-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay: £13.46 - £17.43 per Hour Summary: The Waste & Recycling Operative will be a key member of the frontline team, ensuring effective waste collection and promoting environmentally responsible practices. This is a physically active, outdoor-based role requiring a high level of public interaction, safe vehicle operation, and a commitment to excellent service delivery. Responsibilities: Drive and operate waste collection vehicles safely, including HGVs. Carry out daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance in line with council procedures. Collect domestic and trade waste and recycling; check for contamination and apply guidance procedures. Provide public advice and promote best recycling practices. Report operational issues and contribute to continuous service improvements. Maintain accurate records using handheld devices and paper logs. Assist in enforcement and compliance duties in coordination with supervisors. Work in all weather conditions and comply with health and safety regulations at all times. Essentials: Full HGV/LGV (Category C) driving licence. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in waste & recycling or relevant experience. Health & Safety training, with IOSH Managing Safely or willingness to obtain. Experience in multi-point waste collection driving and public-facing roles. Knowledge of operational areas and waste equipment. Ability to work independently, under pressure, and at unsocial hours including bank holidays.
