Workshop Plant Mechanic Position
Our client, one of the largest construction companies in Europe, is seeking a Workshop Plant Mechanic for their Southampton-based site due to ongoing business growth.
Responsibilities include:
1. Carrying out workplace risk assessments individually and with the team.
2. Resolving technical problems related to plant and equipment, sharing knowledge, and using initiative on-site.
3. Performing and recording regular plant inspections.
4. Carrying out scheduled servicing according to manufacturer specifications.
5. Maintaining internal plant to company standards.
6. Conducting on- and off-hire PDI inspections.
7. Performing thorough examination inspections.
8. Leading familiarization sessions or advising apprentices/operators on safe operation and maintenance.
9. Providing advice or seeking guidance on plant modifications to ensure compliance.
10. Identifying opportunities for new technology implementation.
11. Executing daily/weekly work programs set by the manager.
12. Collaborating with operational teams on workload.
13. Training, mentoring, and developing team members.
14. Recording all work in the company's electronic system.
15. Conducting workshop inspections as instructed.
16. Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental legislation and company policies.
17. Supporting the implementation of 'Your Safety is My Safety.'
Requirements:
* NVQ Level 2/3 in plant maintenance, or equivalent experience such as a mechanic background (e.g., HGV mechanic).
Remuneration:
* Salary: £35,934.60
* Working hours: 42.5 hours/week with 1-hour lunch break
* Holiday Package: 22 days + 8 bank holidays
