Referment is partnering with Kilnbridge to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor, a pivotal role ensuring the highest safety standards across diverse large-scale construction and major infrastructure projects across the South West of England.
As a Health & Safety Advisor at Kilnbridge, you will be a crucial part of their commitment to operational excellence and safety. This role involves working across various dynamic large-scale construction and major infrastructure projects throughout the south west of England, ensuring robust health and safety practices are implemented and maintained. You will play a key role in fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Travel between sites will be supported by a company car or travel allowance.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
* Develop, implement, and review site‑specific risk assessments and method statements.
* Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, recommending effective corrective and preventative actions.
* Deliver comprehensive health and safety training and inductions to site personnel and contractors.
* Ensure strict adherence to all relevant UK health and safety legislation and company policies.
* Advise project teams and management on best practices for health, safety, and environmental protection.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date H&S records, reports, and documentation.
* Promote a positive and proactive health and safety culture across all operational sites.
* Assist in the development and continuous improvement of H&S management systems and procedures.
* Monitor and evaluate contractor health and safety performance.
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Health & Safety professional ready to make a significant impact within a leading construction and infrastructure environment. You will be a confident communicator with a strong understanding of large-scale site operations and complex regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
* Proven mid‑senior level experience as a Health & Safety Advisor, with a career history demonstrating significant depth in dedicated Health & Safety roles. Essential experience must be gained directly within the large‑scale construction or major infrastructure sector, working with large companies or on major project schemes relevant to complex civil engineering or structural projects.
* Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma, or NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety).
* Demonstrable experience and strong understanding of CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations 2015.
* Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
* A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between South West England sites is essential.
* Proficiency in using H&S management systems and reporting tools.
* Experience on high-profile, complex UK infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
