EPUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership for the Tower inpatient ward based at Clacton and District Hospital Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. The post holder will provide medical leadership for a multidisciplinary team comprising resident doctors, ward nursing team, psychiatrists, CPNs, OTs and psychologists.
Responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to work closely with the ward managers and the wider MDT to provide a safe and effective service and also be expected to work closely with the relevant community teams and contribute to providing an effective care pathway for patients across the service. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician (RC) for patients under their care on Tower Ward for patients detained under the Mental Health Act and expected to carry out the duties expected of an RC knowledgably and in a timely manner. The post holder will be expected to be knowledgeable of the Mental Capacity Act and be proficient at applying it appropriately to patient care.
Qualifications
You must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with an appropriate CCT or equivalent or be within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of the AAC.

Leadership and Professional Role
The Consultant Psychiatrist is a key clinical leader for the Team. The post-holder is required to work independently and accountably as part of a team of clinicians offering Mental Health Services. Working collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, carers, clinicians, and other practitioners within the multi-disciplinary team in delivering great mental health services. The post holder would be part of the senior management team of the team and be integral in developing and improving the service.
