Financial Controller
I am recruiting a Financial Controller for a Venture Capital (VC) backed deep technology client. The client is pre-revenue and in start-up/scale-up mode with strong backers. Their technology covers software, hardware and IP. Their clients include some of the giants of global technology. They are scaling towards an exit in 3-4 years’ time.
Reporting to the CFO your responsibilities will include:
Hands on management (with an Accounts Assistant) of the day-to-day accounting activity for five entities, this will include month-end processes to trial balance, posting of journals, adjustments and reviews.
Deliver the annual statutory audit under IFRS.
Support the CFO in the production of the monthly board pack and annual budget preparation including detailed analysis.
Accurately forecast and manage cashflow for maximum working capital efficiency.
Lead the definition of advanced accounting policies for R&D, revenue recognition etc.
Implement and improve accounting policies and processes, utilising technology and automation where appropriate.
Support the CFO fund raising activities, due diligence, investor relations etc.
Your profile:
Academically strong and a Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
Demonstrable experience of your ability to operate effectively as a hands-on Finance Leader in a start-up environment. Occupying a broad top to bottom finance role managing all that is thrown at you. In addition I need to see evidence of bigger company best practice training whether that has been attained in a large audit firm or corporate environment, you must know what good looks like.
With one Accounts Assistant you must be able to flawlessly manage the day-to-day accounting, but please be aware that this is a complex business, therefore I will also need you to be technically strong accounting knowledge (IFRS).

Hybrid working – 3 days per week in Central London office.
Compensation: £90,000-£95,000 + healthcare + share incentive scheme.
