Head of Fundraising and Communications We are looking for a skilled and principled leader to help grow our impact and influence — while staying deeply rooted in our EPIC values. As Head of Fundraising and Communications, you will shape and lead our approach to ethical fundraising, inclusive communications, and brand stewardship. You will help ensure that our voice is clear, courageous, and reflective of the people we work alongside — building support and community around our work, and generating the income we need to thrive. As Head of Fundraising and Communications, you will hold a key leadership role at the heart of bemix. You will work closely with the Chief Operations Officer, Senior Leadership Team and Trustees — helping to tell the story of our work, build strong relationships, and secure support for the future. About Bemix Bemix is an innovative and dynamic Kent-based charity working alongside people with learning disabilities and autistic people to support choice, independence, inclusion and opportunity in all areas of life – learning, employment, health, relationships, self-advocacy and community. For over 20 years, we have grown in size and strength, building a unique and values-led organisation that brings people with and without learning disabilities and/or autistic people together in meaningful collaboration. The Head of Fundraising and Communications is responsible for developing and delivering a coherent, values-aligned fundraising and communications strategy that supports Bemix’s mission, values and long-term sustainability. This includes growing diverse income streams, strengthening public and stakeholder engagement, ensuring consistent, accessible and inclusive representation of our work, and embedding strong internal communications and messaging across the organisation. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the postholder also plays a critical role in organisational planning, culture, reputation and long-term development. Main responsibilities 1. Fundraising Leadership ● Lead a comprehensive, ethical fundraising strategy aligned with bemix values and strategic priorities. bemix Job Pack – Head of Fundraising and Communications - Canterbury – July 2025 ● Develop a mixed portfolio of income generation, including grant funding, individual giving, major donors, corporate partnerships, events and community fundraising. ● Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, supporters and donors, ensuring long-term engagement. ● Identify new funding opportunities and develop high-quality funding applications, proposals and impact reports alongside Heads of Programmes. ● Monitor and report on income, fundraising KPIs and trends; develop and manage the annual fundraising budget. ● Review and implement Fundraising and Donations policies through co-production, in line with our Ethical Policy and EPIC values (Equal, People, Involved, Co-workers). ● Ensure all fundraising activity is transparent, compliant and in line with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks. 2. Communications, Brand and Engagement ● Work closely with the Strategic Lead for Communications and Partnerships to deliver inclusive and impactful communications that strengthens profile, trust and engagement. ● Provide strategic oversight and quality assurance across all bemix communications — including website, social media, PR, print materials, digital content, and campaigns. ● Ensure all messaging and public engagement reflects the voice, values and ethos of bemix, and is co-produced wherever possible. ● Oversee and develop bemix’s brand identity, ensuring consistent and creative application across platforms. ● Coordinate with programme teams to gather and share impact stories, case studies and learning in ethical, empowering ways. ● Support the development of internal communications to strengthen staff and co-worker connection, voice and shared purpose. ● Lead on reputational risk and media response strategies in collaboration with the senior leadership team. bemix Job Pack – Head of Fundraising and Communications - Canterbury – July 2025 3. Leadership and Organisational Development ● Line manage and support the Strategic Lead for Communications and Partnerships, providing guidance, supervision and development. ● Build and maintain effective relationships with freelance designers, copywriters, digital specialists and other suppliers. ● Lead by example in modelling inclusive, empowering, and collaborative leadership that is accountable to the people and communities we work alongside. ● Contribute to organisational leadership and decision-making as part of the Senior Leadership Team. Skills and Abilities ● Strategic thinker with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver high-quality work across multiple areas. ● Skilled communicator who can tailor messages for different audiences and build trust with stakeholders. ● Excellent written skills, including the ability to tell stories in ways that are values-driven and impactful. ● Confident managing budgets and reporting on impact. ● Collaborative leadership style – able to work across teams, line manage staff, and model inclusive leadership.
