Job Description
ALTEN UK is supporting major engineering and infrastructure programmes within the defence and nuclear sectors and is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join a multidisciplinary delivery team.
This role is ideal for someone with a technical civil engineering background who is looking to develop their career within project management and programme delivery while remaining involved in engineering-focused projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Delivery Manager with coordination of civils project activities
* Assist with project planning, action tracking and delivery monitoring
* Monitor progress of engineering deliverables and project milestones
* Draft and manage non-technical project documentation, reports and meeting minutes
* Coordinate actions and follow-ups across multidisciplinary teams
* Support risk, issue and dependency tracking activities
* Work closely with technical teams to understand civils-related topics and project impacts
* Assist with stakeholder communication and project governance activities
Qualifications
Required Skills:
* Background in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Experience supporting engineering, infrastructure or construction projects
* Strong organisational and coordination skills
* Ability to understand and communicate technical civils topics
* Experience tracking actions, deliverables and project progress
* Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Required Qualifications:
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills:
* Previous experience in a Project Coordinator, Project Support or Assistant Project Manager role
* Experience within defence, nuclear, rail or infrastructure sectors
* Familiarity with project planning or tracking tools such as MS Project, Primavera or Excel
* Understanding of engineering project lifecycles and deliverables
