Location: Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station. Site Based Role Work Shift: 9-6 (Monday to Friday) Our client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor at Hinkley Point C, who will play a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of this complex and high-profile project. Working closely with the commercial team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of quantity surveying, including cost estimation, cost control, procurement, and contract administration. Responsibilities: Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction works based on drawings, specifications, and other relevant information. Monitor project costs throughout the construction phase and identify areas where savings can be made. Prepare and negotiate contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients in accordance with project requirements and company policies. Manage the procurement process, including obtaining quotes, issuing purchase orders, and tracking deliveries to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. Review and approve subcontractor invoices and payment applications, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions. Provide advice on contractual matters and participate in the resolution of disputes with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Prepare and maintain accurate records of all project costs, including variations and change orders. Prepare monthly cost reports and forecasts for management review, highlighting any deviations from the budget and recommending corrective actions as necessary. Collaborate with other members of the project team to ensure that financial objectives are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the construction or engineering industry. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, including NEC and JCT. Familiarity with nuclear regulations and industry standards (desired but not essential). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as CostX or Candy. Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) preferred.
