Location:
Hastings, Eastbourne, South Coast area - The successful candidate must be able to travel between multiple sites in these areas.
Hours & Shift Pattern:
Varied, as this is a relief position.
Hourly Rate:
Dependent on site, between £12.21 and £14.00 per hour.
Main Responsibilities:
We believe the best approach to deterring criminal activity is understanding the vulnerabilities and risks of each location and tailoring our approach to effectively reduce risk. As a Retail Security Officer, you will provide visible deterrence, respond to incidents, complete incident reports, and collaborate with local authorities.
You will be expected to carry out all guarding responsibilities, such as:
* Patrolling the shop floor and deterring criminal activity
* Assessing and identifying vulnerabilities, and proactively minimizing risk
* Liaising with management and local authorities when applicable
* Managing vulnerable persons with empathy to avoid causing distress
* Conducting searches of colleagues and contractors as required in line with company policy
* Digitally reporting incidents and using tablets/phones for daily activity planning
* Providing detailed and legible incident reports to assist the client and authorities
The Person:
Effective Security Officers are confident communicators, able to provide detailed verbal and written accounts of incidents. They should be welcoming, patient, and capable of handling conflicts professionally.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
You must hold a valid SIA license to apply. Previous retail security experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. Applicants must be able to provide a full 5-year checkable work or education history. Please bring your right to work documents and recent proof of address to the interview.
A current SIA Guarding or Door Supervisor license is required.
