Job Overview We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated individual with good scientific background to complement and assist in leading our existing MLA team at Wexham Park Hospital. As a Band 3 Medical Laboratory Team Leader you would de required to assist the Associate Practitioners in the management of the MLAs, performing appraisals, training new starters and assessing and managing competencies, while working a 24/7 shift pattern alongside the other Band 2 MLAs Main duties of the job As part of the NHS team, you will participate in the provision of a comprehensive range of scientific and diagnostic services across various scientific disciplines. This includes conducting laboratory tests, analysing results, and ensuring accurate diagnostic information is provided to support patient care. Your role will require you to use both automated laboratory equipment and manual techniques, ensuring all procedures are carried out with the utmost precision and under appropriate supervision. You will regularly communicate with a variety of healthcare professionals, including hospital clinicians, general practitioners, and other specialists, to discuss test results, clarify diagnostic information, and collaborate on patient care plans. Effective communication will also extend to patients and their representatives, ensuring they are kept informed about the services provided and addressing any concerns or queries they may have. Additionally, you will engage with commercial suppliers to coordinate the procurement of laboratory materials and ensure that the necessary resources are available to maintain efficient service delivery. Your responsibilities will require a keen understanding of scientific principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work within a team, contributing to the wider goal of delivering high-quality, patient-cantered healthcare.
