About our client

We are representing a leading healthcare services provider that works in close partnership with the NHS to enhance patient access, reduce waiting times, and deliver sustainable service solutions. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Business Development Director to lead strategic relationship management and drive commercial success across NHS markets.


The role

This senior role will focus on expanding the organisation’s reach within the NHS by developing long-term partnerships with Trusts, ICBs, and key decision-makers. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and winning new contracts. You will play a central role in shaping commercial strategy, ensuring that business development activity supports both the organisation’s growth objectives and the wider goals of the NHS.


Key Responsibilities

* Develop and manage relationships with senior NHS stakeholders, including executives within Trusts and ICBs.
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the NHS and related sectors.
* Lead consultative sales conversations that align with NHS priorities and address operational challenges.
* Collaborate with the commercial team to share insights, coordinate activity, and maximise business opportunities.
* Participate in regular team meetings to plan strategy and review progress.
* Represent the organisation at events, conferences, and meetings, acting as an ambassador for its values and services.
* Liaise with the bids and tenders team to ensure accurate, high-quality proposals and submissions.
* Contribute to long-term strategic planning, ensuring commercial objectives support sustainable growth and innovation.


About you

This is a proactive, consultative sales role suited to individuals with experience selling services into the NHS — such as software, consultancy, recruitment, or clinical delivery solutions.

* Significant experience in business development within the NHS or healthcare sector.
* A well-established professional network across ICBs and NHS Trusts.
* Proven track record of developing successful partnerships and securing contracts within healthcare.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to translate relationships into tangible commercial outcomes.
* Willingness to travel nationally to meet clients and attend sector events.
