We’re looking for a resilient, agile, and passionate HR professional to join our People Team as a Colleague Relations Advisor. If you thrive on empowering managers, solving complex employee relations challenges, and making a difference every day, this is the role for you.
As a Colleague Relations Advisor, you’ll be the first port of call for our managers, offering trusted, expert guidance on a variety of employee relations cases. Through clear, confident advice delivered over the phone, you’ll coach and support managers to navigate challenges effectively, getting it right first time. Your objective approach will help build their capability, ensure fair outcomes, and reinforce consistent application of our policies across the organisation.
This is a hybrid position, offering flexibility with just two days a week based in our Stockport office. The team operates on a shift pattern between 08:00am and 19:00pm.
Key responsibilities:
1. Timely and responsive telephony-based answering of managers colleague relation queries are in line with policies and legislation
2. Coaching and empowering managers to make informed, fair, and lawful decisions, enhancing their capability in handling employee relations issues
3. Supporting managers with the administration and quality completion of their CR correspondence to ensure we are always putting the colleague at the heart of our decisions. Providing guidance, and ensuring the highest attention to detail is provided
4. Managing your own caseload within the agreed Service Level Agreements
5. Working in collaboration with the other members of the Colleague Relation and People Business Partner teams to triage the more complex cases which could result in litigation or affect the reputation of NHSPS, such as TUPE, Redundancy or Discrimination cases
6. Supporting managers by offering coaching and guidance to enable quality Occupational Health referrals
7. Can handle routine tasks and social interactions within a work environment. Ability to absorb policy and guidance necessary for the role.
Essential Requirements
8. Colleague Relations (ER) advisory experience
9. Previous case management experience including complex cases
10. Previous experience of working in a telephony based advisory service
11. People Qualification (minimum CIPD level 3) – Level 5 desirable but not essential
12. Proven history of managing all types of colleague relation cases, such as but not limited to disciplinary, grievance, absence, flexible working, family friendly, performance.
13. Understanding of Employment Tribunal and Employment Law practises.
