Deputy Nursery Manager – Level 3 Qualified
Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex
8am to 6pm (Mon-Thu) – 36 hrs/week
Immediate Start – Permanent
A well-established nursery in Bexhill-on-Sea is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join their leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate early years professional looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and child-focused environment.
The successful candidate will support the Nursery Manager in the day-to‑day running of the setting, ensuring high standards of care, learning, safeguarding, and staff support are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the Nursery Manager with the daily operations of the nursery
* Leading by example and acting as a positive role model for staff and children
* Ensuring safeguarding procedures and nursery policies are followed at all times
* Supporting staff development, mentoring, and day‑to‑day supervision
* Overseeing ratios, room organisation, and staff deployment across the setting
* Supporting with observations, assessments, and learning journeys
* Ensuring the EYFS curriculum is implemented effectively throughout the nursery
* Supporting staff with planning engaging and age‑appropriate learning opportunities
* Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
* Supporting children with SEN and EAL using appropriate strategies and interventions
* Monitoring standards within rooms, including learning environments and displays
* Supporting with risk assessments, health & safety checks, and compliance procedures
* Assisting with parent meetings, staff meetings, and nursery events
* Promoting British Values and positive behaviour throughout the setting
* Supporting the nursery team to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children
Requirements
* Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years
* Previous experience within a nursery setting, ideally in a senior or leadership role
* Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and safeguarding practices
* Confident leading and supporting a team
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work collaboratively and maintain high standards across the nursery
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
