Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled technician to join our busy servicing and hire department. The successful candidate will be able to service, diagnose and repair all types of plant equipment. Electrical and battery hand tools experience would be an advantage. Ongoing training will be provided – for example on Bobcat equipment.


Key Responsibilities

* Equipment pre-delivery inspections completed.
* Equipment service, diagnosis, repair and/or test completed as scheduled to departmental and Company standards.
* Attend breakdowns at customer locations as required.
* Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with customers.
* Diagnose faults and undertake core and other trade works, ensuring quality meets high standards and targets are achieved.
* Ensure general workshop tidiness and maintain tools, plant, and equipment.
* Maintain security of tools, plant, equipment and workshop areas.
* Set up and operate equipment following manufacturers’ guidelines and procedures.
* Carry out precision measuring/testing of equipment following clear procedures.
* Provide standard guidance and on-the-job training to apprentices.
* Maintain accurate records of works undertaken including job tickets, timesheets, and other required paperwork.
* Report defects for assigned vehicle maintenance checks to the line manager as needed.


Required Skills & Experience

* Vocational qualification, e.g., HND/HNC, City & Guilds and/or SVQ Level 3 in relevant subject (or equivalent).
* Diesel generator and air compressor experience would be an advantage.
* Pressure washer experience would be an advantage.
* Good mechanical and technical knowledge and understanding.
* Current valid driving licence.
* Working knowledge of relevant systems, equipment, and processes.
* Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
* Ability to work independently and make decisions relevant to servicing, repair, and testing outcomes.
* IT literate with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Positive attitude to new challenges and change.
* May be required to be part of an on-call rota.
