Job Description
Logistics Supervisor, Zenith‑Energy are looking for a Logistics Supervisor to support the planning and execution of a remote location land well, onshore East Africa.
The role will require working with the Zenith team in Aberdeen along with in‑country visits as required during the planning phase and then management of in‑country logistics during operations.
Immediate Start.
Scope of Work
In‑Country Site Visit & Route Assessment
* Conduct a comprehensive field visit to assess access routes, airstrips, road conditions, border crossings, and potential bottlenecks. Validate assumptions on travel times, security risks, and infrastructure readiness for both personnel and cargo movement.
Aviation vs Ground Transport Feasibility
* Evaluate the cost, safety, and operational viability of fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing aviation support versus long‑haul bus or convoy‑based ground transport. Consider seasonal weather impacts, security dynamics, and crew change frequency.
* Shore Base & Logistics Hub Selection. Identify and assess potential shore base locations for suitability in terms of port access, customs clearance efficiency, warehousing, fuel availability, and onward transport links to the wellsite. Consider impact on equipment standby costs.
Fleet Strategy & Contracting
* Define the required vehicle fleet mix (e.g. 4x4s, buses, fuel bowsers, flatbeds, cranes) and develop a contracting strategy for leasing or procurement. Include maintenance support, spares availability, and driver competency requirements.
* Accommodation & Camp Logistics. Assess existing accommodation capacity (e.g. civil camp, security camp) and determine if additional temporary facilities are needed. Define catering, laundry, waste management, and water supply logistics.
Personnel Movement Plan
* Develop a detailed plan for mobilisation and demobilisation of national and international personnel, including visa support, meet‑and‑greet services, transit accommodation, and medevac protocols.
* PSV & Freight Strategy. Define shipping, trucking, and containerised freight strategy, including staging areas and laydown yard.
Customs & Regulatory Compliance
* Map out import/export requirements, identify potential delays, and propose mitigation measures. Engage with local office to streamline customs clearance and secure necessary permits for cross‑border or in‑country movement.
* Contract Strategy document & Tender Documentation & Evaluation Criteria.
* Prepare technical scope of work, service level expectations, and evaluation matrices for logistics tender. Include KPIs for on‑time delivery, HSE compliance, and cost control.
Award Recommendation & Contract Finalisation
* Lead technical and commercial evaluation of bids, benchmark pricing, and recommend preferred logistics provider(s). Support contract negotiations and ensure alignment with operational timelines.
Execution Plan & Ramp‑Up Schedule
* Collaborate with selected contractor(s) to finalise mobilisation plans, resource allocation, and contingency measures. Ensure alignment with drilling schedule and civil works readiness.
Cost Estimate & Budget Integration
* Develop a detailed logistics cost estimate, including aviation (if recommended), ground transport, accommodation, fuel, and third‑party services. Align with overall project budget and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
HSE & Community Interface Planning
* Ensure HSE and community engagement plans are updated.
Experience
* Extensive years of experience in logistics planning and execution of well projects.
* Remote location experience.
* Experience with ITT and contracting of logistics services.
* Experience with supply chain and transport coordination.
* Applicants with experience working within Oil & Gas is preferred.
