About the role
The Postdoctoral Research Assistant will be conducting research on Critical Minerals Supply Chains and resilience framework. The post requires modelling expertise combining Material Flow Analysis, Life Cycle Assessment and value chain modelling. The project will explore the complex set up of critical minerals supply chains and will identify pathways and strategies to increase resilience. The candidate will contribute to a NERC-UKRI project led by Dr Teresa Domenech and in collaboration with Canadian partners. The position holder will have primary responsibility for conducting the analysis and material and economic modelling in collaboration with ISR colleagues and our UK and Canadian project partners.
This post is available immediately and is funded for 6 or 12 months in the first instance (depending on FTE), further funding to support the post may be available.

About you
The ideal candidate has a quantitative and analytical background, with expertise in mining and critical minerals, familiarity with data analysis and data manipulation, and a keen interest in sustainable resources, mining and refining, the circular economy and multi-disciplinary research. The ideal candidate has a PhD in a relevant related topic connected to sustainability, modelling and integrated assessment and experience in modelling with solid quantitative skills and commitment to high quality research. Previous experience in value chain modelling is desirable.
