SEO Strategist
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
An SEO Strategist is responsible for planning, reviewing, and helping to implement innovative SEO strategies that will help deliver growth to clients across the pillars of SEO not limited to on site, off-site SEO, technical and content. The strategist should also own performance been able to accurately report on performance against KPI's and objectives.
Collaborating with client services, tech analysts, PR, content, copywriting, UX and creative teams, they will help to formulate a cohesive strategy that will focus on meeting clients' objectives and business goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Responsible for developing and leading SEO strategy for your clients.
* Working with SEO analysts, campaign Managers, and content writers, deliver clear and concise strategies covering the core elements of technical, content, offsite and onsite SEO.
* Measure and analyse the success of SEO strategies and tactics and present learnings and recommendations for future campaigns. Be adaptable in strategy if required.
* Apply Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) principles to improve visibility within AI-driven search environments like Google AI Overviews, including optimising for brand mentions, citations, and unlinked references.
* Translate Query Fan-Out insights into actionable content clustering and multi-intent targeting strategies across traditional and generative search engines.
* Develop search strategies that extend beyond Google, covering platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest, Amazon, Bing, and voice assistants — aligned to audience behavior at different stages of the customer journey.
* Support the integration of platform-specific content strategies into the broader SEO plan — ensuring your work contributes to visibility wherever your audience searches.
* Be pro-active with personal growth, utilise the expertise within the team to upskill in both tools and techniques.
* Keep pace with the industry and utilize this knowledge for your clients not limited to algorithm updates, Google product updates and new tools.
* Contribute to multi-platform reporting and performance analysis (including TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, and AI surfaces) to provide stakeholders with a holistic view of search visibility.
* Support SEO executives in the team providing knowledge and guidance where relevant. Likewise share key updates and knowledge with wider members of the team including tech analysts and content team.
* Manage your own workload and client deadlines effectively and resourcing work to the other teams and/or execs.
* Manage your diary and time effectively to ensure that you are meeting deadlines while having adequate time for meetings and catch up's, be accommodating to others but equally own your own time.
* To support the agency in its delivery of ISO27001, including where applicable additional responsibilities for ISO asset owners (informed separately)
* From time to time, you may be required to carry out additional duties to meet the needs of the business, for example carrying out mandatory training or tasks assigned by your Manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge and competencies:
* Strong skillsets in all the key fundamentals of SEO
* Technical SEO
* Keyword research
* On-page optimisation
* Content strategy
* An understanding of backlinks and the impact on the overall strategy
* Solid understanding of the differences between SEO and GEO, including how they intersect and where strategy must diverge.
* Experience optimising for AI search visibility including schema markup, entity-based SEO, brand mentions, and conversational queries.
* Understanding of Query Fan-Out and how to apply topic clustering and multi-intent mapping in editorial and content planning.
* Familiarity with content discovery algorithms across non-Google platforms (TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Amazon, Pinterest, etc.).
* Understand client's business, their brand values, and their target audience – customer demographics and implement strategies to target these audiences.
* Understand the market your client is in and how this is represented digitally.
* Know your client's objectives and business results, both macro and micro.
* Presents clearly and persuasively with enthusiasm and rationalisation to internal & external teams.
* Have strong knowledge and experience of relevant tools including Google Analytics and Google Search Console plus existing knowledge or the desire to upskill on the 26-tool suite.
* Awareness of new success metrics such as visibility in AI-generated answers, share of voice in citations, and zero-click exposure.
* Good client interpersonal skills.

* Understand the client commercials as well as SEO requirements.

Skills or competences:
At least 3 years' SEO experience. Desirable development and growth of SEO strategy in agency setting.
