Join to apply for the Primary Teacher role at Compass Community
Compass Community School Mountfields Park is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality, therapeutic and child-centred education to boys and girls from 7 to 17 years of age in Loughborough. Our children come from diverse backgrounds and have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many may also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. As a trauma- and attachment-informed organisation, all staff receive extensive therapeutic training and support. Our approach places the child at the centre of decision-making, with education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams and students collaborating to secure outstanding outcomes.
The Role
We are all principally teachers of children before teachers of subjects. Central to this role is knowing the child, building professional, nurturing and positive relationships, and motivating students. The Primary Teacher will have the ability and willingness to teach Maths and/or English to GCSE level. We maintain high aspirations for our children and recognise the importance of relevant qualifications to provide life chances and opportunities.
Compass Community School teachers inspire children, creating a sense of awe and making subjects and lessons real and relevant. They plan exciting and engaging learning opportunities that challenge all students, whether they are working on the basics or have a special talent or passion for the subject.
Our children require very special teachers who can manage some complex and challenging behaviours. They will benefit from attentive communication, consistency, flexibility and a non-judgmental approach. We welcome teachers who want to contribute to school decision-making, curriculum development and our extra-curricular offer, bringing their own interests and passions to the table.
