About you:
We are looking for someone of financial excellence and has the enthusiasm to take on a pivotal role of leading our finance department with ability and proficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong skill set coupled with demonstrable experience in guiding, coaching, and providing committed support to the financial team.
You will be entrusted with overseeing and managing the finance department to detailed standards, necessitating a comprehensive grasp of financial systems and processes. You are independently able to execute payroll responsibilities for 60 or more employees. Proficiency in this area is paramount, as is the ability to navigate complexities with precision and efficiency. You will be tasked with the detailed contribution to financial budgets, ensuring careful allocation of resources in alignment with organisational objectives.

About this role:
You will be joining a respected finance team, protecting the finances of the business with integrity and accuracy, facilitating strategic aims through positive financial solutions, reporting reliably to our stakeholders and sharing relevant information to support and educate our wider team.
This role involves upholding the highest standard of integrity while facilitating strategic objectives through innovative financial solutions. This role also includes managing the financial operations, processes, and outputs of the Finance Team. The Financial Controller supports the Finance Director in providing timely and accurate financial reporting, and control of commercial and credit risks.

About your key responsibilities:
* Oversee the day-to-day financial operations within the company, ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported and comply with relevant regulations
* Manage regular stock and general supplier payments and expenses within our company policies and limits, flagging and resolving any issues arising manage payroll, pensions and our Company benefit schemes
* Manage the credit control function, building relationships with our trade customers to minimise the risk of bad debts
* Oversee and finalise the monthly management accounting process to production of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet, examining closely to check for discrepancies
* Work with the CFO to analyse the management accounts and produce the board pack
* Implement any changes or decisions raised from the monthly board meetings
* Track costs monthly against budgets, flagging up trends and investigating variances
* Ownership of our year end accounts processes to prepare information for annual Statutory Financial Statements production.
* Manage the year end audit process, liaising with our external auditors and managing the finance team to produce the required information accurately and on time
* Manage day-to-day company insurance arrangements, actioning any changes required and co-ordinating the annual review process
* Maintain financial policies and processes and actively contribute to Company policy development with a 'can do' approach
* Monitor accuracy of financial systems across our business units and work with others on continuous improvement and best practice to prevent errors in data collection and calculations. Initiate cross-team working groups where appropriate for effective communication, training or problem-solving
About your skills and knowledge:
* 2 years' experience of working in a Financial role desirable
* Independently and competently apply the required qualifications such as CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills (including the ability to prioritise and multi-task and handle time-sensitive deadlines in a complex, fast-paced environment).
* Able to think strategically but also needs to have the ability to be hands on with the team
* Excellent presentation skills, written and verbal with the ability to create and manage communication content for multiple audiences and the confidence to deliver to board level and external stakeholders.
* Confidence with tech and an excellent understanding of Finance Systems - particularly Khaos
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels across a business and their stakeholders.
* Proactive self-starter who can manage a complex workload.
* A creative proactive problem solver

* Ability to work collaboratively, leveraging cross functional teams and initiatives to create opportunities to drive results and outcomes

* Good standard of education, including good numeracy, written and spoken English skills
* Computer skills and proficiency - Excellent Excel and Word experience
* Ability to work as part of a team, under pressure, all with a can-do attitude
